Designing With Web - Part 3: week 1

Improve flying experience for seniors based on Internet of Things

Group 38

Project 1 - AirCoat

Context

when? where? who? why?

Many old people enjoy their retirement to travel the world. However, many health incidents can occur during these long-distance flights, particularly for people suffering from heart, lung or circulatory diseases. This is the reason why many seniors tend to travel less and less by plane because they fear for their health. During a long flight, the musculoskeletal system is more fragile, the decline in immune defences intensify, phlebitis and urinary infections are more current, and unexpected falling starts to occur.

Consequently, our main goal is to enable these people, with a higher risk of health incident, to keep traveling and discovering the world during their old days. We thus propose the creation of a connected jacket, which aim is to measure all seniors' health statistics – blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, etc.

Target

Senior

Our target is the senior persons to help them improve their flight experience, provide new services that will allow them to check their health and others.

Service offered

An intelligent jacket that saves lives !

We have designed an intelligent jacket, that allows seniors, to undertake a plane travel stressfree ! Our Jacket, directly connected to staff members, allows to analyse live the passenger's body features, so that it can prevent any potential accident! For exemple, staff members can check and stabilize their passenger's body temperature, and can at any moment stimulate their blood circulation!

Project 2 - iChair

Context

when? where? who? why?

When you arrive at the airport, you may be lost. Connected wheelchairs may enable you to reach the gate to your flight faster and by experiencing less stress.

Target

for whom?

This service would be provided in airports to old people since they are more likely to feel lost, experience stress and be tired to walk to the gate of their flight.

Service offered

what? how?

Connected wheelchairs would enable to improve flying experience for seniors. It would function as follows. When you arrive at the airport, the connected airport would detect that you are here and that you are an old person thanks to your booking details. The airport would then send a message to your phone to propose you to get a connected wheelchair fetching and bringing you to the gate of your flight, if you didn't ask for it when you booked your flight. Then, you would only have to sit and enjoy your trip.
